Croatia, the country worth visiting

Croatia was not on the list of popular holiday destination, but it has become more favoured as the country has a lot to offer to people of all backgrounds and interests. Every year more than 10 million tourists visit Croatia. Croatia has beautiful baroque inspired cities with a lot of tourist attractions from almost every major era of history: Roman buildings, medieval castles and world heritage sites. Many people however prefer beach resorts such as Dubrovnik, Split and Trogir to enjoy the Adriatic sunshine and water sports.

Croatia is a southern central European country which has a population of more than 4 millions residents and such countries share a common boarder as Serbia, Slovenia and Hungary. The capital of Croatia is Zagreb which is home to around 700 thousand people. Tourists love visiting this country which provides all sorts of accommodation in Croatia as apartments and villas.

The Adriatic Sea resorts are very popular with tourists especially Dubrovnik and Dalmatia attract many visitors each year. The wonderful old town of Dubrovnik has numerous important monuments and architectural attractions. Dubrovnik is a city located on the coast of the Adriatic Sea at the southern tip of Croatia. Such famous poets as Lord Byron called the city the Pearl of the Adriatic and this walled city with its renaissance architecture and lemon scented arcades really is a site to visit as it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In fact in the middle ages it was the only eastern Adriatic city which was a rival Venice. The spectacular blue waters of the Adriatic is a major pull with tourists looking to go for diving or sailing experience which can command some spectacular views. The Dubrovnik apartments market is very high in demand, especially during the summer months.

Another tourism hotspot in Croatia is the harbour town of Trogir which can also be found in Dalmatia. Its architectural sites are a must to see for all visitors. All the Trogir apartments are looking over the harbour and the Adriatic are very popular with tourists. Trogir is aslo a great place for sailing and fishing.

Besides all the World Heritage Sites, Croatia has a few significant natural attractions such as the Plitvice Lakes National Park and the Stari Grad Plain on the island of Hvar. The Plitvice Lakes National Park is a park with 16 beautiful turquoise lakes, various caves, mountains, breathtaking waterfalls and a diversity of birds and wild animals.

Apart from beaches and historic towns Croatia also has an excellent cuisine. Seafood is especially popular, featuring shrimp, squid and mussels. There are tasty meat dishes such as roast pork and veal steaks delicious desserts. Croatia is known for its wine. A taste of Rakija or fruit brandy is recommended.

    The islands will be a bit quiet in winter. They are more typically "summer" places, and possibly not an ideal place to visit then to get the best out of your time The coast can be windy and cold though. Croatia is cooler in the middle of the summer, that's for sure.
